Systems Quality Department


Organizational Position :

Linked to General Department of Information Technology


Vision :

To verify and assure quality of information systems whether developed in-house or by contractors


Objective :

To apply an approved quality control methodology for systems development projects implemented in-house and by contractors. Scope extends to new requirements and those entailed by maintenance work. All information systems deployed at General Department of Information Technology are tested and verified according to these regulations.


Tasks :

  1. Auditing and test of ministry systems to verify compliance with standards and correct flow of work
  2. Verification of the quality of recently deployed systems and those maintained legacy systems

Quality Control Methodology :

  1. New requirements test and verification starts when systems development process finishes and the system is submitted to the department. Quality control process kicks off by merit-based assignment of testing tasks by department head.
  2. Department staff starts analyzing requirements by assistance of system analysts towards establishing a number of cases and scenarios for the test.
  3. After test cases and scenarios are put, a final edition is reviewed and adopted by department head.
  4. When new requirements are finally drafted by development team, the project leader (department client) prepares a prototype to be tested by the department.
  5. Department staff starts the initial testing round.
  6. A quality specialist reports initial test findings on a department tracking system. The findings are reviewed by department head and referred back to development department to handle issues.
  7. Project leader at development department reviews issues and assigns them to developers to solve issues.
  8. After development team is done with these findings, project leader reports a second version of the system that incorporates fixes to the issues for testing.
  9. Quality department starts second test round that extends to fixes
  10. After review and solution of all issues reported at the initial test, a regression test and an integration test are conducted. These two tests verify the following :
    • New requirements do not interfere with old requirements when the new release is deployed
    • New requirements do not negatively affect environment integration state when deployed
    • Environment integration is intact and no mishaps or defects are reported
  11. A final test is conducted prior to going into in-production state. System performance is verified using performance evaluation tools at this point.
  12. Quality specialist's conducts configuration tests after new requirements are applied in a live system to verify successful deployment.
