Department of Information Technology Infrastructure


General Objectives :

  • Help Ministry of Higher Education offer leading electronic services within including recent services and flexibility in expansion in order to add new services in the future
  • Monitoring the effectiveness standards periodically in order to reach the highest standards and improve the offered services continuously
  • Periodical revision to risks, threats and procedures submitted to raise the performance and reduce the risks to reasonable levels
  • Responding to the needs of the Ministry in order to achieve the suitable access to the information and remote systems in order to accelerate the development process
  • Keeping the identity and the privacy of the employees and users such as students, universities, public administrations in a suitable manner as well as securing the data that has been collected electronically when transferring or storage
  • Developing the technological experience in the field of recent technologies in order to save the most successful solutions

Duties :

  • Carrying out solutions to monitor all networks for 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • Preparing designs necessary for information networks
  • Applying and considering the security and protection standards of information networks
  • Connecting the ministry to its branches inside and outside the Kingdom
  • Granting authorities to internet service on the level of the ministry and preparing servers in coordination with the concerned administrations
  • Periodical maintenance and update to servers
  • Following up security gaps related to servers and solving them
  • Setting up a mechanism and a plan to the Reserve Copying Administration to the systems of the Ministry and testing them periodically
  • Managing the Ministry email and its branches
  • Automation of applying the necessary updates to the users' devices and servers after testing them
  • Automation of the process of monitoring the servers' performance and increasing their effectiveness
  • Carrying out rules and regulations on the users inside the networks of the ministry and its branches
  • Automation of spreading the updates of antivirus programs on the devices
  • Carrying out solutions that saves the chance to record the security records centrally
  • Managing various databases
  • Application of central programs that help measure and assess the efficiency of the technical support and its responsiveness to the employees' needs
  • Setting up policies and procedures related to the information security
  • Revising and reviewing risks and gaps in networks, programs, applications and all what is related to them
  • Observing and following up suspected activities in networks, programs, applications and all what is related to them as well as raising reports to the concerned officers
  • Supervising the update of all network components, programs and applications in a manner that suits the requirements of the information security
  • Suggesting the suitable security solutions to avoid penetration and security events
  • Supervising the emergency and risks plan
  • Educating the individuals with the risks of the information security and how to deal with them
  • Analyzing violations and security incidences in order to set up suitable solutions to prevent their occurrence in the future
  • Monitoring networks, systems and applications periodically and working to solve the potential problems before they are complex
